Key Attractions

Fethiye is built on top of ancient Telmessos. Remains of the cliff-side Lycian tombs and sarcophagi are breathtaking. Also of interest, the antique theatre in the heart of town dates to Roman times. A two-storey sarcophagus lies to the east of the Municipal Building; it is a topped with a Gothic-style lid and decorated with war scenes.
Rock-cut tombs can be seen along the cliff side of the town, with the most notable being the Tomb of King Amyntas. The Fethiye Archaeological Museum contains the stele uncovered at Letoon, with inscriptions in Lycian, Aramaic and Greek; it was used to decipher the code of the ancient Lycian language.

East of town stands the ruined Crusader castle tower, constructed by the Knights of St John out of the Hellenistic and Roman stonework of an earlier acropolis. Near Fethiye, the Blue Lagoon of Oludeniz boasts calm, crystal clear waters which make it ideal for a variety of water sports. Part of the lagoon is now a national park
