Demre

One of the most visited sites in Lycia. Myra is located in Demre, 30 km from Finike by the coastal road leading to Kas.

On the right side of the site, a pretty well-preserved theater from the Roman period, and immediately close to the theater a Lycian necropolis; this proximity is actually remarkable: fifty meters between the theater and the necropolis, but probably about a thousand years between them.

A few hundred meters from Myra, the church of Saint Nicholas. This famous Saint was born in Lycia and used to be the bishop of this region. The church has been built in the 3thd century, and restored many times. In Demre its direction is shown by "Baba Noel" signs.
